All DMC threads have six strands per length.  Cut equal lengths of 1 meter throughout the project to avoid wastage.  Separate the strands carefully.  Always thread the needle with two strands.  The lengths on the organizer have been pre-cut in 1-meter lengths.

Fold the fabric in 4 to find the center and mark it with a pin.  On the chart you can work out the middle of the design by following the centre marks.  This is to ensure that the design sits centrally on the fabric.

After placing the fabric on a loop or frame (you may opt to keep the fabric loose), you are ready to stitch.  Each colour has its own symbol and you build up the design by counting the stitches as per the chart.

Cross Stitch is one of the most common stitches and is very easy to master.

Once you have threaded your needle with 2 strands of a particular colour, you bring the needle up from the reverse of the fabric at 1.  You take it back down on 2 and simply follow the sequence of the chart above.  When you get to the end of your length of cotton, secure it carefully on the reverse by pulling it through some of the existing stitches.
